Thank you to the members of Engine 8! Your service and dedication go far above and beyond what anyone should expect. As consummate professionals, your performance record speaks for itself answering more calls than many of the neighboring jurisdictions combined. It goes without saying that we whole heartedly support your staying in Seat Pleasant. I have written to the County Council Committee on Public Safety and Fiscal Management to remind them of how fiscally prudent it would be to keep you where you are as well as the life-and-death stats of your moving. I reminded them of the aging homes in our city and how a reduced response time, even by 2 or 3 minutes, could mean many more deaths to my neighbors. Many don't know that a fire doubles every 60 seconds and a 3 minute delay could be a death toll for many. We are in your corner fighting for you alongside you. May God continue to bless you: he has the final word. |

I was a member of District Heights and had my photo taken on the back of Squad 8 @ Central High school in 1969. Was also a member of CO 7 Calvert County, Former Chief Encampment Wyoming and member Carbon County WY Vol Fire Department. In one dept or another for over 30 great years. |

I would like to express my sincere appreciation of the volunteers of Squad 8. This is one of the most committed, gifted and talented group of men and women who serve the residents and citizens of Seat Pleasant and the greater community.Our community is PROUD of the volunteers and what they do for us. They respond when they are called and they do so with professionalism and pride.As one of the busiest squads in the entire nation; their duty and commitment is with distinction and honor. They ARE volunteers! They are not paid for what they do. They spend their own money and resources to help make our community safe and address emergencies without regard to accolades.Therefore, as we recognize first responders all over in wake of the 9/11 10 year anniversary I salute the Seat Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company, Inc.
