Engine 82 first arriving on vacant house in Capitol Heights

Sunday, January 22, 2012 At 2039 hours Engine 82 was alerted first due to 1001 Kayak Ave, in Company 5's area, for a vacant house on fire with people trapped.  Now this house originally burned in June 2011 and has been the site of several false calls since then.  This time proved not to be a false call as the Duty Chief arrived first to find heavy fire conditions throughout and ordered exterior operations only.  Engine 82 arrived first and advanced a line to the front and began extinguishing fire.  As the rest of the assignment arrived, they also decided to pull lines off of Engine 82 as well.  The fire was knocked down and crews were sent in to get hot spots.  After working on the hot spots on both the first and second floor, the crew from Engine 82 assisted investigators.  The fire was deemed suspicious and is under investigation.  The crew from 8 picked up and returned in about 2.5 hours.
