On Friday the 17th just before midnight Engine 83 and Ambulance 88 were alerted to the 6200 Blk of Baltic St, in Seat Pleasant, for a stabbing. While enroute it was reported that there was a large group and people were possibly armed with guns as well. Units arrived after police secured the scene and found a single patient suffering from a serious stab wound. The patient was treated and taken to a local trauma center by A88 and the ALS unit. Engine 83 returned in about 15 minutes and the Ambulance in 2 hours. Then on the 18th about 30 minutes after the ambulance returned to service, both units were on the road again just a few blocks from the firehouse to Addison Rd & Drylog St for an accident. Soon after dispatch the call was upgraded to an accident with people trapped as police were on the scene confirming this. Units from 8 arrived and found 4 patients with 1 trapped and established command. While the crew from Ambulance 88 began treating and triaging patients, the crew from E8 pulled a protective handline and then went to work using various hand tools and a hydra ram to attempt to extricate the victim as the closest squad was coming from a distance. This of course is because the county deemed a squad at Seat Pleasant no longer necessary just over a year ago. After a few minutes of work the patient was able to be freed and the crew along with 3 additional EMS units worked to remove the patients. In all 4 patients were taken to various hospitals and trauma centers. Engine 83 cleared in about 45 minutes and the ambulance in just over an hour.
