Engine and Ambulance run morning stabbing

Thursday, December 13, 2012   Around 0948 ours Engine 82 and Ambulance 88 were alerted to the 7400 Blk of Drumlea Rd, in the first due, for a report of one stabbed.  Units were flagged down at the 7-11 at Central Ave & Shady Glen Dr by a male who had been stabbed in the chest.  Crews treated the patient who was then taken o a local trauma center by PA38. The units from 8 cleared in about 20 minutes. 


   


 

Ambulance 88 runs afternoon shooting in Chapel Oaks

Tuesday, December 4, 2012  Just after 1530 hours units from Company 38 were alerted to the 1200 Blk of Dunbar Oaks Dr for a shooting.  Ambulance 88 cleared a previous call and was added to the run as well.  Units arrived with police to find a male actually in the 1200 Blk of Nye St who had been shot after an alleged robbery attempt.  The crew from 8 assisted PA38 who transported the victim to a local trauma center.  Ambulance 88 returned to service in about 20 minutes.


   


 

Engine 83 and Chief 8A on early morning first due fire

Monday, November 26, 2012  At 0714 hours Engine 83 and Chief 8A responded to 6011 Seat Pleasant Dr, in Seat Pleasant, for smoke coming from a house.  Engine 83 arrived and found smoke coming from the roof and advanced a line.  Crews found fire in the ceiling and walls due to a chimney fire that had extended.  TW33 worked to open up while Engine 83 extinguished all fire.  The assignment was scaled back and the units from 8 returned to service in just over an hour.


     



 

Engine 83 and Chief 8A take in 3 fires on Sunday including a fatal

Sunday, November 25, 2012  At 0519 hours, Engine 83 and Chief 8A responded to 5120 Boulder Dr, in Company 42's area, for a house on fire with people trapped.  E42 arrived to find heavy fire and smoke and advanced a line.  The units from 8 arrived as one victim was being removed from the house.  The driver of Engine 83 assisted with CPR while the rest of crew reported to the house to assist in opening up and some overhaul.  Two victims were taken to local hospitals, the male ended up dying from his injuries.  Engine 83 and Chief 8A returned to service in about an hour.  Then just after noon Engine 83 and Chief 8A responded to 900 Cedar Heights Dr, in Company 38's area, for smoke coming from a house.  E38 arrived to find smoke showing from the roof area and advanced a line.  Engine 83 arrived and picked up E38's line and advanced a back up line.  After some opening up crews found a small fire in the attic and extinguished the same.  Chief 8A had Division 1.  The assignment was scaled back and the units from 8 returned in about 35 minutes.  Then at 1618 hours Engine 83 was again alerted for a house fire, this time at 8107 Vineyard Dr in Company 23's area.  E37 arrived to find heavy fire from the house and advanced a line.  Engine 83 arrived just after E26 and picked up their line.  The crew then worked on the first floor to help with extinguishing hot spots and overhaul.  Engine 83 picked up and returned in about an hour.

Engine 82 on mid morning first due fire

Saturday, November 24, 2012   At 0924 hours Engine 82 was alerted to 112 Soper La, in Seat Pleasant, for a house fire. The engine arrived quickly and found smoke showing from the roof line and advanced the 150. Upon investigation it was discovered that there was a working chimney fire with extension into the walls and roof area. Engine 82 worked along with TW33 and T29 who opened the walls and roof allowing the crew from 8 to extinguish all of the visible fire.  The assignment was scaled back for wet down and overhaul. Engine 82 picked up and returned to service in just over an hour.

   


 

Busy Friday with 3 shootings and a shed fire

Friday, November 23, 2012   The Thanksgiving weekend continued to be busy for Company 8. After 24 runs on Thanksgiving Day, Engine 82 was alerted Friday morning around 1130 hours to 316 Carmody Hills Dr, in Seat Pleasant, for a shed on fire. Engine 82 arrived to find that a shed was indeed on fire and extended a line. The crew extinguished the same and the assignment was scaled back for some minor overhaul. The cause is under investigation as witnesses reported seeing someone set it on fire.  Engine 82 returned in about 45 minutes. Then around 1630 hours Engine 82 was alerted to the 400 Blk of Balboa Ave, in Company 5's area, for a shooting. Units arrived with police to find a male who was shot in the leg and grazed on the head after a drive by shooting.  The patient was treated and taken to a local trauma center by A5. Engine 82 cleared in about 10 minutes.  Later around 2115 hours, Engine 82 & Ambulance 88 were alerted to Central Ave & Soper La, just a few locks from the station, for a report of a shooting. Units arrived with police to find a male victim shot in the knee. While being treated, PSC received another report of a shooting up the street in the unit block of Cindy La.  Engine 82 cleared the scene and headed there while PA38 worked on the victim at Soper La. Ambulance 88 cleared a short time later and also responded to Cindy La. There units found a male shot in the hand who had lost several fingers from the blast. Ambulance 88 along with Medic 46 transported this victim to a local trauma center. Both shootings were related and police continue to investigate. Engine 82 cleared in about 15 minutes and the Ambulance in just over an hour.

Engine 83 and Ambulance 88 on early morning fire with rescues

Wednesday, November 7, 2012  At 0238 hours Engine 83 was alerted second due to the area of Sheriff Rd & Goshun Pl, in Company 38's area, for an apartment on fire.  Being just a few blocks from 38's house they arrived shortly after dispatch with fire showing from the second floor of a house at 5396 Sheriff Rd. Additional reports stated people were trapped and this was confirmed on arrival which brought Ambulance 88 to the scene.  Engine 83 arrived second due and advanced a back up line.  One person met crews at the front door suffering from smoke inhalation confirming there were others inside.  The crew from 8 made their way up the stairs and encountered a victim near the top by the landing.  Part of the crew assisted in removing the victim and passing him off to the crew from Ambulance 88 while the rest of the line crew extinguished the fire.  The fire was extinguished and the assignment scaled back for overhaul and wet down.  Three patients total were taken to area hospitals including one by Ambulance 88.  The units from 8 returned to service in about an hour.

Monday, November 5, 2012   At 1414 hours Ambulance 88 was dispatched Central Ave and Cameron Grove Blvd, in Company 46's area, for an accident with people trapped.  First arriving units arrived to find two trucks and a vehicle involved with multiple people trapped. Additional EMS units were called as well as a second squad to assist on the call. In all, 3 people were take to various hospitals and 2 people in the vehicle were pronounced dead on the scene.  Ambulance 88 returned to service in just over an hour. 

   


 

Ambulance 88 runs trauma code after construction accident

Saturday, October 27, 2012  Just before 0830 hours, Ambulance 88 was added to a call in the 600 Blk of Rollins Ave for an injured person from a fall.  Further information was received that someone had fallen from a roof and was unconscious.  The crew arrived and found a male not breathing after falling from a roof at a new development being built in the first due.  The patient was treated and quickly loaded into Ambulance 88 and taken to a local trauma center as a trauma code with ALS personnel from M26 and PA38 onboard.  Ambulance 88 cleared in about 90 minutes.


   


 

Engine and Ambulance on minor first due shooting

Thursday, October 25, 2012  At 0307 hours Engine 82 and Ambulance 88 were alerted for an assault in the 500 Blk of Cedarleaf Ave in Carmody Hills.  While enroute, PSC upgraded the call to a possible shooting and started and ALS unit.  Units from 8 arrived with police to find a male who had been hit with a pipe as well as had been struck in the leg by a ricochet of a bullet.  The patient was treated and taken to a local hospital by Ambulance 88.  Engine 82 cleared in about 20 minutes and the ambulance in about 90 minutes.
